“Zoo” has been canceled after three seasons on CBS, Variety has confirmed.
The series was based on the book of the same name by James Patterson. In the series, humanity found itself slipping down the food chain after the world’s animals started violently attacking people. In season three, which aired over the summer, the year is 2027 and the world has reached a tipping point: as the human population continues to dwindle due to the sterility problem, an equally devastating threat rises in the form of “the hybrids,” an army of unstoppable lab-made creatures, hell-bent on destroying mankind.
The series starred James Wolk, Kristen Connolly, Billy Burke, Nonso Anozie, Alyssa Diaz, Josh Salatin, and Gracie Dzienny. Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Michael Katleman, Patterson, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen served as executive producers.
The cancellation comes after the renewal of fellow summer show “Salvation,” which will air its sophomore season next summer.

Patterson will remain in business with CBS despite the cancellation. CBS recently put the drama “Innocent” into development, based on the soon-to-be published novel of the same name by Patterson. Former CBS Entertainment head Glenn Geller will executive produce along with Patterson, Robinson, and Gout, the latter two being the co-presidents of James Patterson Entertainment.
