Celebrity spotting during NBA game nights is always a treat for fans. The game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls recently saw popular actor and iconic comedian Jerry Seinfield in attendance. Hailing from Brooklyn, the actor didn’t seem too happy with the team’s loss. But spectators wonder if there was more than one reason for his solemn face.
During its broadcast from 1989 to 1998, the sitcom ‘Sienfeld‘ showed its love for the New York Knicks. George Costanza was displayed as a true Knicks fan. In real life, Jerry Seinfeld is also a big basketball fan. He has been seen before enjoying Knicks games with his family.
But with the game on Tuesday night, fans were asking Seinfeld, if his allegiances had shifted. Others pointed out that he was there to ask Kyrie Irving about his recent antisemitic controversy.

Why is the Brooklyn Nets star in trouble?
Irving got himself in hot soup a week ago by promoting a controversial film on social media. Titled ‘Hebrews to Negroes: Wake up Black America’, the film has been accused of carrying antisemitic material. Since the backlash, Kyrie Irving has defended himself by declaring he is an Omnist. He also said that he hadn’t done anything illegal or harmful.
During the Brooklyn Nets vs Indiana Pacers game, a group of Jewish fans wore “Fight antisemitism” t-shirts.
Just hours ago, Steve Nash was removed as the team’s head coach. Fans were also referring to this in their tweets regarding Jerry Seinfeld, joking that perhaps he is there to be the team’s next head coach.
Kyrie Irving scored a mere 4 points all game. The Nets are now at 2-6 this season so far after the latest loss. Their hopes to win the championship are looking slim at the moment.
