My mother always used to say, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it.” And Irina Shayk is most definitely flaunting it at Cannes.
The model arrived at the British Vogue party on May 22 in a completely sheer black slip dress, showing off the matching string bikini set underneath. Shayk paired the barely there dress with sheer black opera gloves, knee-high stockings, and strappy black sandals. In contrast to the dress, Shayk took a distinctly “more is more” approach to her jewellery, wearing an enormous statement collar necklace dripping in diamonds. She added a couple of diamond cocktail rings over her gloved fingers, a cherry-red lip, and shades.
Shayk wasn't nearly naked for the entire evening, however. She was also pictured wearing a sharp men’s black blazer over her see-through dress, which added a layer of sophistication to the still very daring look. The model, who shares a daughter with her ex-partner Bradley Cooper, was also pictured arm in arm with designer Riccardo Tisci.
For Shayk, at least, the theme of this year’s Cannes Film Festival appears to be skin. On May 21 she walked the carpet in a torso-baring leather set from Mowalola. Shayk’s bra top was fashioned from two crisscrossing leather straps, which gave it a slightly BDSM feel, especially when paired with the matching ultra-low-rise maxi skirt.
At this rate Irina Shayk is just one fuzzy boot or two shaved eyebrows away from going the full Julia Fox. Just for the record, I would absolutely approve a move in this direction.
