I'm chronically unhappy with my hair, mainly due to the fact that I have no idea how to style it. It's very fine, but there's a lot of it, so any style I create seems to slip away within hours, leaving me wondering why I bothered. It's not straight but it's not curly - it's kinky and skewiff. On the rare occasion I do decide to do something to my hair, it's an ordeal; I'll spend far too long doing it, and use far too much hairspray in a desperate attempt to preserve my efforts. I'm also not a morning person, so any pre-work styling has to squeeze promptly into about 4 minutes.
THE REVIEW
Upon opening, the Glide looks like, well, a hot brush - but chicer. As with all of their tools, GHD have somehow elevated the look and feel with subtle yet thoughtful details. It takes a little while to heat up - it took the best part of a minute until the light stopped flashing. Considering the curling tongs take 4 seconds to heat up, it seems like a little bit of a long time. Even so, I began using it way before the light stopped flashing and it worked like a dream even while still warming up.
The bristles are two different lengths. The short inner bristles provide enough tension to shape the hair as it is passed through and the long outer bristles detangle the hair strands before they reach the shorter bristles. The long bristles remain cool enough to touch, meaning you can use it exactly the way you would a normal brush, and style right from the root. It also means no burnt fingers or singed ears (yas!).

Both of these technologies deliver. The brush glided through my hair with the greatest of ease, only getting stuck on one particularly meaty knot (but that's more indicative of my troublesome hair than any failing of the brush).
From start to finish, I spent precisely 6 minutes, 14 seconds using the brush, by which point my hair was poker straight and super smooth. Plus, I could have stopped at around the 4 minute mark, but I was having too much fun gliding through my hair and feeling the silkiness.
Upon arrival at the office, three people at the office commented on how good my hair looked (I'm actually not lying), and for a change, I actually thought so too.
