Engineers say the emergency closure of the A6 at Desborough will remain "until Monday at least".
Engineers have been working since Wednesday (18th Jan) on the section between junction 3 A14 at Rothwell and Braybrook / Desborough road roundabout.
Northants County Council says:
"An emergency closure was put in place to enable the necessary investigations and repairs to be made. As communicated, this will be in place until at least Mon 23rd when we will provide further updates.
Our investigations will continue over the weekend."
Saturday 21st extra closure
Engineers will also be carrying out works on the neighbouring rail bridge and the A6 closure will be temporarily extended to the B576 junction.
This closure will be in place during the day. Access to the A6 north and south will be closed from the Braybrook/Desborough Road roundabout during this time."
Existing closure
Diversion - All road users are advised to avoid the area or follow the signed diversion route.
The diversion follows the most appropriate route for all vehicles and avoids roads with weight restrictions which must be observed.

The signed route diverts traffic from the A6 onto the A427 junction towards Corby; traffic will continue along the A427 exiting at the A6003 roundabout. Traffic will continue along the A6003 (Uppingham road) to its termination at the A43 roundabout. Traffic must then access the A43 (Southbound towards Kettering) and continue to junction 7 where traffic will leave the A43 and join the A14 travelling westbound towards Desborough and Rothwell.
Traffic will then exit the A14 at junction 3 to re-join the A6.
